“Dead Lovers” (release date November 2018) is a collection of traditional ballads centered around the theme of tragic romance. Although most of these songs have their origins in the mid-1800s (with a couple being much older) they’re still popular with folk singers to this day, and have even seen new life being reinterpreted by rock and jazz artists.
Matt’s recordings, however, take them back to their roots, with his booming baritone voice accompanied by simple guitar and mandolin, capturing the feel of a live acoustic performance.
